Yes, the Holidays are upon us and many of us will not see our families for various reasons.
Yet, we can still enjoy the holidays and feel blessed.
Here are a few tips I can give you as I venture into the holidays.
1 If you want to cook...invite someone over for Thanksgiving who has no place to go.
Bow your heads and be thankful.
2. Play holiday music with thanksgiving and not with sorrow you have been put here for a reason.
3 Donate time to a holiday charity drive. Giving back matters.
4 Check out the latest movie and go either by yourself (talk to others there) or take a friend, neighbor, or fellow-parishioner.
5 Yes, take that old tree out of the attic and decorate it and enjoy YES YOU CAN!
6 Send out Christmas Cards.
7 Get your hair done, Do a facial, and enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas.
8 Visit all the pageants and caroling in your city.
9 Read the Christmas story in the Bible and be grateful.
10 Smile when you are out; others may be more lonely than you think.

We don't always have family But we make it happen for others who are lonely
During the holiday season, it's common to experience a mix of emotions, especially if you are unable to be with your loved ones. However, finding joy and gratitude is still possible. One way to embrace the spirit of the holidays is by reaching out to those in need. Consider inviting someone who is alone for Thanksgiving to share a meal with you, spreading warmth and kindness. Additionally, engaging in charitable activities can bring a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
Embracing festive traditions like decorating a Christmas tree, sending out cards, or attending local events can uplift your spirits and create new memories. Taking care of yourself by pampering with a salon visit or enjoying a holiday movie can also be comforting during this time.
Reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas, such as reading the story from the Bible, can deepen your appreciation for the season. Remember, a simple smile or kind gesture can brighten someone else's day, especially those who may be feeling lonely.
Furthermore, the act of giving back, as demonstrated by Dr. Theresa Phillips and her husband's outreach for Medically Confined Veterans, showcases the power of compassion and community support.
While the holidays may look different each year, finding ways to connect with others and spread joy can make a significant impact, not only for yourself but for those around you.
